The Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium is located in Nikolassee in the green southwest of Berlin near lake Schlachtensee. The school has been known under its name since 1967 and especially concentrates on foreign languages and natural sciences.

Today, the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium is designed as a school with five classes per year. A multitude of subject-specific classrooms and a good technical equipment with experimentation devices guarantee a rich offer, especially in the natural science classes.

PC Our school disposes of an up-to-date equipment of information-technical devices and rooms for the IT-basic education and computer-science-lessons,as well as internet access for the remaining classes.
Beyond that, all classrooms are equipped with internet access. A large section also contains television sets and video-recorders.

Since 1993, the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium has been offering a shortened course of education with English as the first and French as the second foreign language, beginning in the fifth grade and leading to graduation after only twelve years of school. This model was created within the context of a school experiment of "the individualisation of the course of ecucation".

We offer two foreign language sequences for students in the seventh grade; we accept students with English as the first and French as the second foreign language as well as students with French as the first foreign language.
These students take their final examinations in the 13th grade.

Beginning with the 9th grade all students are required to choose an additional elective subject from the broad range of elective subjects at the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium.

One can choose between:
Mikroskop Latin, Spanish ( the only High School / "Gymnasium" in Zehlendorf ), Mathematics, the three natural sciences ( Physics, Chemistry, Biology ), Music and Arts. Latin and Spanish are offered leading to the "Latinum" ( Latin Proficiency Certificate ) respectively to the final examination. Spanish can be chosen as a "Leistungsfach", a main subject.

Stierkampf In their senior forms (grades 11 to 13) students choose their classes according to certain guidelines out of the school's offers.

At the moment, we offer the following main subjects:

German (literature), English, French, Spanish, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Music, Arts and Sports.

Masken Furthermore, the students may choose the subjects Computer Science and Philosophy from the eleventh grade on (which can be chosen as part of the final exam) and performing Arts beginning with the 12th grade.

Working groups:
The broad spectrum of subjects offered is complemented by numerous afternoon activities, some of which are run by active or former students. In the field of sports students can choose between volleyball, basketball, football(soccer; also for girls), rowing, athletics(our well-kept sports grounds are available) and chess.

Saxophon In the field of music and arts, students have the choice of participating in two choirs, an orchestra and a jazz band, which performs not only in inner-school activities. The choirs and the orchestra, but also the drama group, go on workshop trips once or twice a year to rehearse intensively for the performances.

Russian, Photography, Mural Painting, Computer and E-mail as well as Beekeeping and Beer brewing clubs round off the offer. We even produce our own beer and honey.

Furthermore, as a special care service for these classes we offer an extra period per week, the so-called "Klassenratsstunde", in which everything that is of interest for our new students is discussed with the form master and in which solutions for occuring problems can be found.

In case of serious problems(which can never be completely excluded) a group of students and teachers are available for meditation.

Our school climate is particulary shaped by a close cooperation between parents, teachers and the very active "Circle of friends of the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium" which alumnaes belong to as well and which contributes to the well-being of our students, e.g. the purchase of rowing boats, the support of our musical and drama activities and our internet equipment. Altogether we provided approximately 102.000 Euros during the last couple of years.

Cafe It is the very active parents we owe our thanks, e.g., for a new cafeteria that is managed by them and which cannot be excluded from our school life anymore.

Another factor contributing to our school climate are the various school partnerships which our "Gymnasium" maintains with foreign schools in France(Paris/Nozay), the USA(Manchester/Michigan) and Russia(Omsk/Siberia). Partnerships with Spain and England are being planned.
